English club Manchester United completed on Tuesday the procedures for signing Belgian international midfielder Youri Tielemans, coming from Aston Villa, with a contract extending until summer 2031.

The club said in a statement: "Manchester United is pleased to confirm the joining of Youri Tielemans to the team, subject to completing registration procedures, after signing a contract extending until June 2031."

Tielemans (29 years old) joined Aston Villa in 2023 on a free transfer from Leicester City, and played 134 matches for the team, scoring 10 goals and providing 24 assists.

During his time with Aston Villa, he contributed to the team qualifying twice for the Champions League, and reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament. He also won the Europa League title last season under Spanish coach Unai Emery, scoring his team's first goal in the final against Freiburg.

Tielemans participated with the Belgian national team in the 2026 World Cup finals, held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He played five matches as team captain, and scored two goals in the 3-2 win over Senegal in the round of 32, before missing the match against Spain in the round of 16 due to injury.

Tielemans is Manchester United's third signing during the current summer transfer window, after signing Brazilian Andre Santos from Chelsea, and goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Leeds United.
