English club Manchester United announced on Monday that it has signed Brazilian midfielder Andre Santos from Chelsea on a contract extending until summer 2031, with an option to extend for an additional season.

The club said in a statement on its website: "Manchester United is delighted to confirm the signing of Andre Santos to the club, subject to the completion of registration procedures. The Brazilian international has signed a contract until June 2031, with an option to extend for a further year."

Santos is 22 years old, and joined Chelsea from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in January 2023, before going on loan spells with Vasco da Gama, English club Nottingham Forest, and French club Strasbourg.

The player made 47 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

Santos is the first signing of the 'Red Devils' in preparation for the new season, and he is expected to join the team's training camp during the upcoming preseason period.

According to English media reports, the fixed transfer fee is €56.3 million, plus €2.4 million in incentives and variables, while Chelsea retains 10% of any future transfer fee for the player.
