Colombian striker John Duran officially joined Portuguese first-division club Benfica on Monday on a one-season loan from Al-Nassr with an option to buy. Al-Nassr announced on its X account that its company agreed to loan the player for a season with a purchase option, while Benfica posted pictures of its new striker with club president Rui Costa. On Friday, Al-Riyadiyah reported, citing private sources, details of the agreement between the two clubs for the deal, revealing that Al-Nassr will bear about $2 million of the player's salary during the loan season, with Benfica paying the remaining dues, estimated at about $10 million. Al-Riyadiyah sources indicated that the purchase clause in the agreement requires the Portuguese side to pay more than 30 million euros to its Saudi counterpart if activated. Also, Al-Nassr will receive a percentage from any future sale of Duran if he later transfers permanently to the Portuguese club. The yellow club signed the Colombian striker early last year after buying his contract from English club Aston Villa. After half a season in Saudi stadiums, it loaned him last season to Turkish club Fenerbahçe, then to Russian club Zenit.
