Hamada El-Sherbiny, a member of the Egyptian Football Association's board, revealed that they are considering submitting a bid to host the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations.

During a phone call with Mega FM radio, El-Sherbiny affirmed that the goal is to continue developing Egypt's infrastructure, in preparation for hosting larger tournaments in the coming years.

El-Sherbiny said that the joy of the fans over what the Egyptian national team achieved at the 2026 World Cup was the greatest motivation to continue working.

The board member thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for honoring the Egyptian national team after its historic qualification to the round of 32 of the World Cup, before being eliminated by Argentina in the round of 16.

He added, 'This gesture greatly affected the morale of all mission members. The honor came from the heart and made everyone happy, and it will be an incentive for us to achieve more.'

El-Sherbiny also stated that the Egyptian Football Association looks forward to completing the development of stadiums and sports facilities, in preparation for submitting bids to host major tournaments.

He noted, 'We hope to complete the stadium file, then bid to host the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations. We have hosted the Africa Cup of Nations more than once, and the next step is to bid for the 2028 edition.'

Hamada El-Sherbiny concluded his statements by confirming that Egypt has the necessary capabilities to host the biggest sporting events.
