Australian Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Al-Nassr, made his first decision following the friendly loss against the Portuguese Benfica reserve team, as he imposed an extra training session on the players immediately after the match, as part of the preparation program for the new season.

The decision came after Al-Nassr fell 2-1 in its first friendly match of the Portugal camp, a match that took place on Wednesday evening at Benfica's stadium in the capital Lisbon.

The match saw the technical staff adopt a special system, as it was played over two halves of 30 minutes each, aiming to raise physical and technical readiness and give the largest number of players the opportunity to participate. Al-Nassr started the match ideally after Abdulmalek Al-Jaber opened the scoring early in the fourth minute, but the Portuguese team managed to come back and turn the result into a 2-1 win. Postecoglou used the match to evaluate the team's elements, as he gave opportunities to 16 players, starting the match with a lineup that included Bento Matheus in goal, Majed Qashish, Saad Al-Nasser, Nader Al-Sharari, Mohammed Simakan, Ali Al-Hassan, Abdulmalek Al-Jaber, Angelo Gabriel, Kingsley Coman, Wesley Teixeira, and Mohammed Maran. With the start of the second half, the coach made several changes by bringing in Salem Al-Najdi, Haroun Camara, Abdulrahman Sufyani, Fares Salem, and Rakan Al-Ghamdi, as part of his plan to assess the readiness of all players during the preparation period. Al-Nassr continues its external camp in Portugal, where it awaits three more friendly matches against Spanish Mérida, then Portuguese Estrela Amadora, before concluding its preparations with a match against Spanish Almería, in preparation for the start of the new season.
