Al Nassr first football team began its friendly matches in its preparatory camp in Portugal with a 2-1 loss to Benfica's B team, in a match played on Wednesday evening at one of the club's stadiums in the capital Lisbon.

The match saw a different format, as the coaching staff limited the game to two halves of 30 minutes each, as part of the physical and technical program set by Australian coach Ange Postecoglou to raise the players' readiness before the start of the new season.

Al Nassr did not wait long to open the scoring, as Abdulmalik Al-Jaber gave his team an early lead by scoring the first goal in the fourth minute, before Benfica B managed to turn the tables and win the match 2-1. Postecoglou was keen to try as many players as possible during the match, relying on 16 players. He started the game with a lineup that included Brazilian goalkeeper Bento Matheus, with Majed Qasheesh, Saad Al-Nasser, Nader Al-Sharari, and Mohammed Simakan in front of him. In midfield, Ali Al-Hassan and Abdulmalik Al-Jaber were joined by Ângelo Gabriel, Kingsley Coman, Wesley Teixeira, and Mohammed Maran in attack. In the second half, the coach brought on five new players: Salem Al-Najdi, Haroun Kamara, Abdulrahman Sufyani, Faris Salem, and Rakan Al-Ghamdi, as part of a rotation policy to give everyone a chance to play.

Al Nassr had arrived in Portugal at the beginning of this week for the second stage of their preparations for the upcoming season. The team has three more friendlies lined up: against Spanish side Mérida on July 28, then Portuguese side Estrela Amadora on August 1, before concluding their camp with a match against Spanish side Almería on August 4.
