Formula 1: Antonelli outpaces Hamilton
Italian Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes driver, surpassed British Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari, who enjoys English crowd support, after winning the sprint race at the British Grand Prix, within the Formula 1 World Championship, Saturday, strengthening his lead in the overall standings by 43 points. Hamilton started first, but finished the sprint race in second place, trailing by 2.7 seconds, after Antonelli overtook him on lap eight of 17, while Lando Norris, McLaren driver, came third. George Russell, Antonelli's teammate and his closest challenger in the title fight, finished the race in fourth at the Silverstone circuit which experienced strong winds. The 19-year-old Italian, by scoring maximum points in the sprint (eight points), raised his tally to 179 points, against 136 for Russell, while seven-time world champion Hamilton has 132 points.
