The French national team suffered a new blow, falling behind (1-0) against Spain, on Tuesday evening at the Dallas stadium, in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

Spain's first goal came in the 22nd minute from a penalty kick by Mikel Oyarzabal, after Lamine Yamal, the La Roja star, was brought down by Lucas Digne, the roosters' left-back.

Just 8 minutes after the Spanish goal, William Saliba, the roosters' defender, fell injured and asked for a substitution, so his coach Didier Deschamps decided to replace him, bringing on Maxence Lacroix instead.

This injury adds to the difficulties for Deschamps, as Spain dominated the entire first half.

It is likely that Saliba, after this injury, will not be able to play in France's next match, whether it be the final or the third-place match.

It is noted that the winner of the Spain vs France match will face the winner of the England vs Argentina match in the World Cup final next Sunday.
