The Spanish national football team has equaled the achievements of France and Uruguay by winning the World Cup twice, but they did it in less time. 'La Roja' claimed the title after a 1-0 victory over Argentina on Sunday evening in the final of the 2026 edition, hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The Spaniards celebrated the biggest achievement in the game for the second time in their history, having first done so in 2010 against the Netherlands in South Africa. With that, they matched the number of titles held by France and Uruguay in the tournament. France won the cup in 1998 and 20 years later in 2018. Uruguay won the first edition in 1930 and 20 years later in 1950. But the Spaniards snatched their two titles with a time gap of 16 years. Brazil remains the all-time World Cup champion with five titles, followed by Germany and Italy with four each, then Argentina with three, followed by Spain, France, and Uruguay, and at the bottom of the list of champions is England with a single title.
