England ended its 2026 World Cup campaign in the best possible way, beating France 6-4 in an exciting third-place match to claim the bronze medal and achieve its best result in the tournament since winning its only title in 1966.

The English opened the goal festival early through Declan Rice, before Ezri Konsa increased the lead, then Bukayo Saka added two goals to end the first half with England leading 4-0.

In the second half, the French team attempted a comeback led by Kylian Mbappé, who scored two goals, while Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé added two more goals, but Saka completed his hat-trick with a penalty, before Jude Bellingham closed the goal festival with a sixth goal in stoppage time.

Despite the loss, Mbappé stole the spotlight after raising his tally to 22 goals in World Cup history, surpassing the previous record, to become the all-time top scorer in the tournament before the final between Argentina and Spain.
