German football club Hamburg announced its first signing to bolster the attack, acquiring Zambian striker Patson Daka on a free transfer after his contract with English side Leicester City ended.

After Daka (27) passed the medical examination in Hamburg, the Zambian international arrived at the team's training camp currently taking place in Austria.

Kathleen Krüger, Hamburg's sporting director, said: 'He shows a high level of commitment, both with and without the ball, and constantly dedicates himself to serving the team as a collective player. At the same time, he has extensive international experience.'

Daka joined Leicester City from Austrian side Salzburg in 2021 for around 30 million euros. During his time with Leicester, the team was relegated twice from the English Premier League; and even suffered relegation from the Championship this year.

Hamburg hopes Daka can compensate for the departure of its strikers: Robert Glatzel, who moved to Wolfsburg; Ransford Königsdörffer, who moved to Mainz; and Damion Downs, who moved to Southampton.

Hamburg is still looking for at least one more striker in preparation for the new season.
