Harry Kane Recalls 'Extraordinary' Golf Game with Donald Trump
Harry Kane, captain of the England national team, confirmed that he had previously played a round of golf with US President Donald Trump, describing the experience as 'extraordinary', ahead of his team's anticipated quarter-final match against Norway in the World Cup.
Trump had revealed earlier this week that he played golf with Kane, telling reporters: 'I think Kane is a great player. I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He's also a good golfer, he's really great.'
Kane explained that the round took place 18 months ago in Florida, expressing admiration for Trump's level of golf despite being 80 years old.
The 32-year-old striker said ahead of England's quarter-final against Norway tomorrow Saturday: 'I played well, to be honest, but 18 months ago he invited me to play when I was in Palm Beach.'
He added: 'When the President of the United States invites you somewhere, it's an extraordinary experience, whether to meet him or to play golf with him.'
He continued: 'His golf level is very good, honestly. I hope I can play at his level when I reach his age, that's for sure. It was a unique experience, and I was just grateful that he invited me to play.'
Kane affirmed that the England team aims to delight the legend Sir David Beckham, after the former Three Lions captain made a point of meeting the players on the eve of the decisive match against Norway, led by Erling Haaland.
England trained on Friday at the facilities of Inter Miami, a Major League Soccer club in which Beckham is a co-owner.
Beckham, 51, attended the training session in Fort Lauderdale accompanied by his sons Romeo and Cruz, and spoke with the players inside the gym before they went onto the field, having previously attended several of England's World Cup matches this summer.
