Anthony Hopkins, a two-time Oscar winner, released his first solo classical music single on Friday after signing a contract to record works as a composer. Hopkins said in a press statement: 'Music was my first desire, my first wish, I have been composing music all my life, some of these pieces have accompanied me for decades, and I still find myself returning to them.' Decca Classics Records explained that the song 'Bracken Road' from Hopkins' upcoming album 'Life Is a Dream', which has been prepared over six decades, reveals a composer whose music is characterized by the same emotional depth and storytelling style that distinguishes his film career, in addition to including a set of orchestral works. Hopkins, born in Wales, learned to play the piano at age four and continued composing music for local plays when he was a teenager in the 1950s. The 88-year-old actor won two Oscars for his performances in 'The Silence of the Lambs' and 'The Father'. The album, to be released in full on August 21, includes works Hopkins prepared during different periods of his life, inspired by his childhood, loved ones, and his birthplace in South Wales. Grammy-winning conductor Gustavo Dudamel performs these works with the Philharmonia Orchestra, adding: 'It is a true honor for me to collaborate with the outstanding Philharmonia Orchestra and the brilliant soloists Gregorio Nieto, cellist, and Sergio Tempo, classical pianist. I express my utmost gratitude and respect to Maestro Gustavo Dudamel whose artistic brilliance is an integral part of this musical journey. He has transformed every note into a profound, indelible meaning with the grace of his baton, creating a pictorial landscape that invites the listener to feel and imagine something very personal.' Hopkins composed the song 'Bracken Road' in 1963 when he was a young actor at the Liverpool Playhouse, improvising on the piano before rehearsals, and was inspired by the natural scenery surrounding his childhood home.
