Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos appeared in a quick media interview before the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.

New York's MetLife Stadium hosts the 2026 World Cup final this Sunday evening, with Spain seeking to win the title for the second time in its history, while Argentina aims for its fourth World Cup victory.

In an interview with beIN Sports before the final, Carlos was asked how to stop Messi, to which he replied with a laugh: 'It's impossible to stop him.'

He added: 'Messi has been the best player in the world for a long time. Spain may start with a tactical plan, but it's hard to sustain and succeed against him.'

On the World Cup being held for the first time with 48 teams, the former Real Madrid star said: 'We congratulate FIFA on the new system and the success of the tournament. It has shown us new teams like Curaçao, Haiti, and Cape Verde. This is modern football.'
