(CNN)-- England lost to Argentina 2-1 in a match held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
After the final whistle, signs of sadness and heartbreak were visible on the players of the "Three Lions."
At that time, Lionel Messi, the "Tango" team player, approached the England players, including Harry Kane, then shook hands, hugged them, and spoke with them, as he made sure to support and console them.
The "Three Lions" will play France in the third-place match at Hard Rock Stadium on July 19.
On the same day, Messi's teammates face Spain in the final at MetLife Stadium.
This is the second consecutive time that Lionel Messi's teammates have reached the World Cup final, after winning the title in the 2022 edition.
