(CNN) -- Argentina beat England 2-1 in a match hosted by the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday, in the semifinal of the 2026 World Cup.

England's only goal came from Anthony Gordon in the 55th minute, while Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez scored for Argentina in the 86th and 90+2 minutes.

With this result, Argentina qualified for the final, while England will play the third-place match against France.

Argentina reached the World Cup final for the second consecutive time, after the 2022 edition which they won.

Argentina will play against Spain in the final on July 19.
