Ibrahim Al-Qasim, the former Secretary-General of the Saudi Football Federation, denied the circulating reports about any relationship with the upcoming board elections of the Saudi Federation, affirming that everything being circulated in this regard bears no relation to the truth.

Al-Qasim explained, via his official account on the "X" platform, that he has received over the past few days a number of calls and inquiries about what is being circulated regarding his connection to the elections of the Saudi Football Federation.

He said in his message: "I received calls and inquiries regarding what is being circulated about my relationship with the elections of the Saudi Football Federation."

He added: "All of that is completely untrue, and I have no relation, directly or indirectly, to any movements or campaigns related to the elections. I hope for accuracy and not circulating incorrect information."

Al-Qasim's statements came days after Yasser Al-Mishal announced his resignation from the presidency of the Saudi Football Federation, in an official statement, following the Saudi national team's exit from the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

With Al-Mishal's resignation, the curtain fell on his presidency period that began in 2019, which witnessed many developments in Saudi football, whether regarding national teams or age-group competitions.

With Al-Mishal's departure, Saudi football enters a new phase by electing a new board of directors, amid hopes to continue developing the national team system, benefit from the successes achieved by the age groups, and translate them in the future into achievements with the first team, commensurate with the size of the sports project the Kingdom is experiencing.
