In the past hours, Matthias Jaissle, the head coach of Al-Ahli, has been in contact with Mason Greenwood to finalize his transfer to the Saudi club for the upcoming season.

According to Ben Jacobs, a journalist close to Jaissle: "The past few hours have seen personal communication from Matthias Jaissle with Mason Greenwood regarding his move to Al-Ahli for the next season."

He added: "Al-Ahli tried to snatch Greenwood from Fenerbahçe today. Decision-makers in Saudi Arabia are aware that the deal has reached an advanced stage with Fenerbahçe, but negotiations with the player are still ongoing." Al-Ahli officials are currently looking to compensate for the departure of Riyad Mahrez with a new signing, as the club is set to compete in domestic and continental competitions next season.
