Kane: I feel I'm in the best form of my career
Harry Kane, the England football captain, said he feels he is in the best form of his career as he seeks to continue his extraordinary season.
The British news agency PA Media reported that Kane saved England's hopes at the World Cup last Wednesday after scoring a late brace that led Thomas Tuchel's team to come from behind and win 2-1 over the Democratic Republic of Congo, qualifying to face Mexico in the round of 16.
Kane scored his brilliant goal in the 86th minute, taking his tally to 72 goals for club and country in the 2025/2026 season, a number only surpassed by Lionel Messi's 2011/2012 season in which he scored 82 goals.
The 32-year-old player said in the latest episode of the podcast 'Lions' Den': 'This season for me, 72 goals so far and maybe more, I think it is about 20 goals more than my previous best season, and I have had good seasons before.'
He added: 'I have had good moments, but in terms of my current feeling, I think I am in the best overall condition I have reached before playing matches.'
Before traveling to the World Cup, Kane helped Bayern Munich retain the Bundesliga title and win the DFB-Pokal, after scoring 61 goals in Germany during the season.
He added: 'Regardless of the situation or the opportunity I get, I feel capable of scoring goals. I think everything is coming together at the right time.'
He emphasized: 'Before major tournaments you need some luck, and to be in good physical condition, and that is not always easy after tough seasons. This year has been satisfying in that regard.'
He continued: 'For me it's just about the next match. I am in a good mental state, and I just want the next game to come quickly, and it's good that the matches are coming one after another now.'
