Al-Hilal, runner-up of the Saudi Professional League, announced on Friday the departure of its Brazilian player Marcos Leonardo from its ranks to move to Dutch Ajax, after two seasons spent in the ranks of "Al-Zaeem".

The Saudi club said in a statement: "The board of directors of Al-Hilal Club Company, chaired by His Highness Prince Nawaf bin Saad, approved the sale of the remaining period of the contract of the first football team player, Brazilian Marcos Leonardo, to Dutch club Ajax."

Marcos (23 years old) joined Al-Hilal in summer 2024 on a contract extending until 2029, coming from Portuguese Benfica for 40 million euros, and participated in 82 official matches in various competitions, scoring 48 goals, in addition to providing 4 assists.

The Brazilian striker contributed to Al-Hilal winning the King's Cup title, and also participated with the team in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scoring influential goals during the club's journey in the tournament.

At the same time, Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam revealed in a statement that Marcos Leonardo signed a contract extending for 5 years until June 30, 2031, for a transfer fee slightly less than 20 million euros.
