English club Liverpool have entered the race to sign French winger Maghnes Akliouche, Monaco's star, as Mohamed Salah's successor at Anfield during the current summer transfer window.

Sky Sports revealed that the Reds' management have initiated initial contacts to inquire about the status of the 24-year-old player and the possibility of his club allowing him to leave this summer.

Liverpool's move comes at a time when they have not yet succeeded in filling the attacking void left by the departure of the Egyptian star, who closed the curtain at the end of last season on a historic career spanning nine seasons with the team.

Liverpool face strong competition for the deal, as Akliouche is a primary target for Paris Saint-Germain, who have made several offers, the latest reaching £34 million (€40 million), but all were rejected by Monaco's management.

The Reds' technical staff, led by Andoni Iraola, believe that signing a new winger has become an urgent necessity given that Salah has not yet been replaced.

Akliouche is distinguished by his ability to play as a playmaker and as a left-footed right winger, a position Liverpool plan to use him in, especially with the German star Florian Wirtz seeking to establish himself in his second season at Anfield.

Interest in Akliouche is the first clear indication that Liverpool have actually begun the post-Mohamed Salah era, searching for a new attacking face to lead the team next season.
