Barcelona striker Ferran Torres faces critical moments regarding his future at the Catalan club after receiving a tempting offer from France, having become a national hero after scoring the goal that crowned Spain as World Cup champions at the expense of Argentina.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported that French club Paris Saint-Germain is targeting Ferran Torres with an offer that complicates Barcelona's plans.

It indicated that Barcelona's management intended to extend Torres's contract, which ends on June 30, 2027, but decided to postpone negotiations with him until the final decision regarding the departure of Robert Lewandowski is made, and preferred to move toward signing a new striker.

Marca explained that Lewandowski's departure opened the door for Torres, but there is a clause in his transfer contract from Manchester City that obligates Barcelona to pay €8 million if his contract is extended before the summer transfer window closes.

It mentioned that for this reason, Barcelona officials preferred to suspend the extension file with Torres and restart negotiations in early September to avoid this clause.

The newspaper also said that despite the desire of both parties—the player and Barcelona—to extend the contract, Torres's goal that won Spain the World Cup, along with his 21 goals in 49 matches for Barcelona last season, tempted other clubs to sign him, including Paris Saint-Germain.

For its part, Catalan newspaper Sport confirmed that the Parisian club made an enticing offer, both financially and sportingly, which might push Torres to reconsider his options.

It also added that although Ferran feels comfortable at Barcelona, doubts, his lack of starts, and the financial budget allocated for the Julián Álvarez deal might push him out of the picture.

It pointed out that what tempts Torres to move to Paris Saint-Germain, the European champion in the last two years, is his coach Luis Enrique, who was behind giving the Barcelona striker the opportunity to represent the Spanish national team for the first time in 2020.

It confirmed that Barcelona's priority is to keep Ferran Torres, but under specific conditions: renewing his contract without a salary increase and adhering to his defined role in the squad.

Sources told Sport that Paris Saint-Germain has not started official negotiations with Barcelona regarding Torres; rather, the French club is first waiting for the player to express his desire before negotiating his signing.

It concluded its report by stating that although Torres's contract has a release clause worth €1 billion, his real value is estimated at €50 million, and Paris Saint-Germain officials believe it is possible to reduce this amount during negotiations.
