Electronic Arts has announced that French star Kylian Mbappé will be the official cover star for the Ultimate Edition of EA Sports FC 27, returning to the face of the world's most famous football video game series after a four-year absence.

This is the first time Mbappé appears on a cover bearing the EA Sports FC name, following the series' rebranding after the company's partnership with FIFA ended. The Real Madrid forward will also be the new official face of EA Sports FC Mobile.

Mbappé previously appeared on the covers of FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and FIFA 23, before being absent from recent releases and now returning with the new series installment.

Commenting on his selection, Mbappé said: "Appearing on the cover of an EA Sports FC game for the first time is a very special moment for me. It is a great honor to continue my long relationship with this series in its new chapter."

The announcement comes after the French star's first two seasons with Real Madrid, where Electronic Arts noted that Mbappé finished both seasons as the top scorer in La Liga, and also won the Champions League Golden Boot for the 2025-2026 season after scoring 15 goals in the European competition.

The cover reveal marks the first step in the promotional campaign for EA Sports FC 27. The company confirmed it will release the first official Gameplay Trailer on its YouTube channel on Thursday, July 23, at 7:00 PM Saudi time.

Despite revealing the cover star, Electronic Arts has not yet disclosed the release date, supported platforms, pricing, or pre-order details. These will be announced later as part of the new installment's promotional campaign.

Mbappé's selection continues his status as one of world football's biggest stars, with the company banking on his immense popularity to lead the new version of its game, which is preparing for a new season amid widespread anticipation from football gaming fans worldwide.
