Lamine Yamal joins list featuring Pele and Bouaddi
The match between Spain and Belgium in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup, currently taking place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, saw the participation of the promising star Lamine Yamal in the starting lineup of coach Luis de la Fuente's team.
The Spanish Yamal became the third youngest player to ever appear in a World Cup quarter-final, at the age of 18 years and 362 days.
Yamal, who is participating in his first World Cup, trails only the late Brazilian legend Pele, who played against Wales in the 1958 World Cup quarter-finals at the age of 17 years and 239 days, and Moroccan midfielder Ayoub Bouaddi, who played for his country in the same round against France in this edition of the tournament on Thursday at the age of 18 years and 280 days.
Spain continued its dream of winning the World Cup for the second time in its history, after qualifying for the semi-finals of the tournament, following an exciting 2-1 victory over Belgium on Friday evening in the quarter-finals of the competition, currently held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
