Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, commented on the possibility of Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid striker, moving to Barça during the current summer transfer window.

Laporta said, in statements highlighted by Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo': 'We have made an offer, and the decision is now in Atletico Madrid's hands. The player said he wants to leave, but our offer is not open-ended. We will set a final deadline if Atletico changes its stance.'

The Barcelona president added: 'We have made a very good offer. He is the player that Hansi Flick and Deco want, but if it is not approved, we must work on other alternatives.'

He continued: 'Deco works constantly with efficiency and calmness, and he proved that with Karim Adeyemi. The same thing appeared with Anthony Gordon. He scored a goal in the semi-final against Argentina after a proactive move. He is a fast, hardworking player who presses well, and we are happy with Deco's work.'

Laporta was asked, 'Are there backup plans if the Alvarez plan fails?' He replied: 'They are just other options. The sporting director never stops working, and there are several options, and he must choose the most suitable one.'

Laporta concluded his remarks by revealing his dream that the Spotify Camp Nou stadium would host the 2030 World Cup final.
