Al-Riyadiyah reported on Friday that several names would officially run, including the list of Muayyad Al-Shahri, Hatim Khimi, and Dr. Yahya Rajih Al-Sharif. Dawood Al-Muqrin, Ahmed Al-Wadaei, and Badr Al-Ruzaih joined the race for the presidency after announcing their candidacy via platform X. Candidates can submit their applications on Wednesday, and the election committee will begin examining the lists of candidates from Sunday until Friday, August 7. The preliminary lists of candidates will be announced on Saturday, August 8, while the Sports Arbitration Center will receive appeals and objections to the lists from August 9 to 13, and rulings on them will be issued from August 15 to 23, with the results of the rulings on appeals announced on Monday, August 24. Tuesday, August 25 is the final deadline for candidate withdrawals, and the final lists of candidates will be announced on Wednesday, August 26, followed by election campaigning starting the next day and continuing until Saturday, August 29, with the elections to be held during the extraordinary general assembly meeting of the Saudi Federation on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The Saudi Federation had announced the formation of the election committee chaired by Ahmed Al-Qunian, as head of the Appeals Committee, with membership of Bandar Al-Hamidani, head of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, Dr. Ahmed Banama, member of the Appeals Committee, and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Fadhli, deputy head of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, while Issa Al-Rayes serves as secretary of the committee, as a representative of the legal department. The elections come following the resignation of Yasser Al-Mashal from the presidency of the Saudi Federation, which he announced via his account on platform X, after the Saudi national team's exit from the 2026 World Cup.
