(CNN)-- Saudi club Al-Hilal announced on its account on platform 'X' on Friday the departure of Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo from its ranks.

Al-Hilal revealed that it agreed to sell the remaining period of Leonardo's contract to Dutch club Ajax.

The club, active in the Roshn League, expressed its thanks and appreciation to the player for all his efforts, wishing him success in his future career.

Marcos Leonardo joined Al-Hilal in September 2024, playing 168 matches in various competitions, scoring 54 goals and providing 11 assists.

Leonardo, along with his teammates under 'Al-Hilal', won the Saudi King Cup, and also participated in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ajax had announced the reinforcement of its squad with Marcos Leonardo until 2031.
