Marquez to Lead KTM Project
KTM, competing in the MotoGP World Championship, announced Monday that it has signed multi-year contracts with Spanish rider Alex Marquez and Italian rider Fabio Di Giannantonio starting from the 2027 season. Pit Beirer, KTM's Team Principal, said in a press statement: 'We are very proud and happy to secure the services of such an exceptional talent like Alex Marquez, the 2025 World Championship runner-up, for our project.' Beirer added: 'What Marquez offers is not just outstanding skill and racing intelligence, but also the determination and winning mentality that perfectly fit our core.' Marquez, 30, the runner-up last year, leaves the Gresini Racing team after four seasons, returning to a factory team for the first time since his rookie season with Honda in 2020. Regarding Di Giannantonio, the team principal said: 'Fabio has taken a clear step to become one of the consistently leading racers in the premier class. We cannot question his speed and commitment to delivering the best performance.' Di Giannantonio, 27, currently sits third in the MotoGP World Championship standings, and leaves the VR46 Racing team, which he joined in 2024, at the end of the season, after achieving his second career premier class victory in Barcelona this season.
