Morocco conceded two goals in the second half, losing 2-0 to France, and exited the World Cup in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Morocco failed to repeat their achievement from the previous World Cup, when they became the first Arab and African team to reach the semifinals, before finishing fourth.

After Yassine Bounou saved a penalty taken by Kylian Mbappe in the 28th minute, the Morocco goalkeeper could not stop a shot from the France captain after an hour of play to open the scoring.

Six minutes later, Mbappe passed the ball to Ousmane Dembele, who placed a low shot into the net.

France will play the semifinal on Tuesday in Dallas, and will await the winner of the match between Spain and Belgium on Friday.
