Nantes loses patience with Mostafa Mohamed: He should stay at home!
Nantes is in crisis with Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed, who refuses to train or play in the second division after relegation. Coach Der Zakarian says he should stay home if he won't attend.
French club Nantes is facing a severe crisis with its Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed, who has not attended any training session since the team resumed training on June 24, refusing to play in the French second division after the club's relegation.
Coach Michel Der Zakarian revealed in press statements on Thursday the extent of the crisis, saying: "We don't know his whereabouts. We call him and sometimes he doesn't answer; he seems unwilling to come to training. This is his mistake, not ours. If he doesn't want to come, he should stay at home."
The 28-year-old player receives daily messages from the club's management informing him that his salary is being withheld, while he has completely disappeared, leaving only posts on his Instagram account.
Mostafa Mohamed, who joined the Canaries four years ago and scored 29 goals in 136 matches, is one of the prominent players who aspired to participate in European competitions with Nantes before the team's relegation to the second division last spring, and he was not called up for the last World Cup with the Egyptian national team.
This crisis comes at a time when Nantes' summer seemed positive, as most Canary fans agree that the signings are solid for competing in the second division, and Der Zakarian's return as coach showed encouraging signs in the first friendly match with a 5-0 win over Fleury. However, the Egyptian striker's story has started to drag on and cause great discontent within the club.
