(CNN) - Alaa Mubarak, son of late Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, shared a photo bringing together his father with current Egyptian national team coach and former player Hossam Hassan during Egypt's 2006 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

Alaa Mubarak shared the photo with his followers on platform X, formerly Twitter, in which Hossam Hassan is seen kissing the head of the former Egyptian president.

Mubarak commented on the photo, saying: "Beautiful memories and a photo that needs no comment, may God have mercy on him and forgive him."

Egypt won the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil in front of its fans in 2006 after defeating Ivory Coast in the final on penalties, with Hossam Hassan then a player in the national team.

Hossam Hassan achieved a historic feat with the Pharaohs by reaching the round of 16 of the World Cup, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the national team delegation upon its return home.
