Nigerian Paul Onuachu closes in on Al-Ahli
The transfer deal of Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu to Al-Ahli has entered a new phase of escalation, after media reports revealed a dispute between the Saudi club and Turkish side Trabzonspor over the ongoing negotiations to sign the player during the current summer transfer window.
According to reports, Al-Ahli reached an agreement with Nigerian international Paul Onuachu on personal terms, as the player will receive an annual salary of 22 million euros, pending a final agreement with his Turkish club to complete the deal officially.
In response, Trabzonspor rejected an offer worth 20 million euros to give up their striker, and also filed a complaint with FIFA, accusing Al-Ahli of contacting and negotiating with the player without the club's consent, despite him having a contract lasting two years.
Exceptional season boosts Nigerian striker's value
Onuachu has become one of the most sought-after names in the summer transfer market, after the impressive performances he delivered with Trabzonspor last season.
The Nigerian striker scored 17 goals and provided 4 assists in 25 matches across all competitions, remaining in the race for the Turkish league top scorer title until the final rounds, before his scoring rate declined at the end of the season.
