Official: Abha Signs French Goalkeeper Donovan Leon
Abha Club officially announced today the signing of French goalkeeper Donovan Leon to bolster the first football team's roster ahead of the new sports season, following the team's return to the Saudi Roshn Professional League.
Donovan Leon joins Abha after a long stint with French club Auxerre, for which he played 252 matches across all competitions.
Leon is an experienced goalkeeper in French stadiums, having delivered outstanding performances with Auxerre and contributing to the team's promotion to the French Ligue 1. He also participated in numerous matches in both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
Abha's management welcomed the new goalkeeper, wishing him success in his journey with the team and hoping he will be a technical addition that helps achieve the club's goals in the upcoming period.
Notable clubs he played for: Auxerre, Brest, then returned to Auxerre in 2020.
Donovan Leon is distinguished by his vast experience, quick reflexes, and ability to lead the defense. He also contributed to Auxerre's Ligue 2 title win and promotion to the top flight.
During his tenure with the French club, his net conceded 288 goals, while he kept 73 clean sheets, leaving a clear mark with the team thanks to his extensive experience in French stadiums.
The French goalkeeper is scheduled to join Abha's current camp in Slovenia in the coming hours to begin preparations for the new season and participate in the technical program set by the coaching staff.
Abha players resumed training on July 8, after the break that followed the team's winning the Yellow League First Division title and securing a return to the Roshn Saudi League.
The team delegation departed for Slovenia on July 16 for an external camp lasting until August 1, which will include four friendly matches as part of the preparatory program.
