English club Liverpool announced the long-term renewal of Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai's contract, as he continues his journey with the Reds ahead of the 2026-2027 season.

The upcoming season will be Szoboszlai's fourth with Liverpool since he joined from German side RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window of 2023. It will also be his first season under Spanish head coach Andoni Iraola.

Szoboszlai: This is one of the greatest days of my career

The Hungarian international expressed his great happiness with signing the new contract, emphasizing that this moment is one of the highlights of his football career.

Szoboszlai said in statements to Liverpool's official website: 'This is probably the biggest day of my career. There are a few days before it, like the day I joined Liverpool and of course the day my child was born. But on a football level, I can say this day is among the top three days of my career.'

He added: 'I am very happy and can't wait to come back and play again and again. I am just happy to be here, as I have said many times.'

Impressive numbers with Liverpool

Since joining Liverpool, Szoboszlai has played 147 matches in all competitions, scoring 28 goals.

His first season at Anfield saw him win the English League Cup, before playing an influential role in the team's Premier League title triumph during the 2024-2025 season.

The 25-year-old also had his best individual season last term, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists in 53 matches across all competitions.

This performance contributed to him winning the Men's Player of the Year award, presented by the club's official sponsor Standard Chartered, after a fan vote.

Endless ambitions with the Reds

Szoboszlai affirmed that his ambition remains high despite the successes he has achieved, emphasizing his desire for continuous improvement.

He said: 'There is always more to give. I never feel satisfied.'

He added: 'I am happy with what I give, but I believe I can be better. That is why I am here, because this drive has been with me since I was a child — no achievement was ever enough for me, and I still think the same way.'

He continued: 'I want to be a role model and an example for everyone as much as I can.'

The Hungarian star concluded his statements by affirming that his goals with Liverpool have not changed since joining the club, saying: 'When I signed for Liverpool, I said I want to win everything, and that has not changed for a single moment. I still want to win all possible titles in this country as well as the Champions League. And I am ready for this challenge.'
