Al-Diriyah Club officially announced the signing of Portuguese Bruno Lage to lead the first football team, according to the official account on platform 'X' on Monday. Al-Diriyah, the new guest of the Saudi Roshn League next season, is the fifth destination in Lage's career, who was born in Portugal in 1976. Lage began his coaching career at Benfica's academy before taking over the first team in 2019, leading them to the league title that same season. He coached English club Wolverhampton in the 2021-2022 season, and had a short stint outside Europe with Brazilian side Botafogo for three months in the 2023 season, before returning to Benfica in 2024, which terminated his contract in September 2025. Lage has four titles in his coaching record, all with Benfica: the 2018-2019 league title, the 2024-2025 League Cup, and two Super Cup titles in 2019 and 2025. 'Al-Riyadiya' revealed on June 14 that the Al-Diriyah administration entered advanced negotiations with Lage, before the talks reached their final stages. The first team's camp is expected to start in Sweden on July 12, then move to Spain for the second phase on July 26, before returning on August 4. On the other hand, Al-Diriyah Club Company announced the appointment of American Bill Manning as CEO of the company, who has over 25 years of experience in leading professional sports organizations.
