The future of Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd may see a new development during the current summer transfer window, as talks resurface about his potential departure from Olympique Marseille, despite joining the team last summer from West Ham United for around 23 million euros.

French newspaper La Provence reported that the file of the Moroccan international's departure has returned to the forefront in recent days.

The report added that the levels Aguerd has shown in recent seasons have kept him as one of the most wanted defenders in the transfer market, amid interest from several clubs looking to bolster their defensive line.

It pointed out that Aguerd suffered from a pubic area injury last season, which affected the number of his appearances and his level, but he is receiving interest from several Gulf clubs closely monitoring his situation, in preparation to move to sign him during the summer transfer window.
