Lionel Messi, captain of the Argentina national team, gifted his shirt worn during the victory over Switzerland (3-1) in the World Cup quarterfinal to Italian football legend Roberto Baggio after the match ended.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Messi gave Baggio the shirt he wore in the match against Switzerland, which the Argentine team won 3-1, before the Italian star posted a photo of them together on his Instagram account holding the shirt and wrote: 'Thank you Leo for your precious gift and for your affection. I love you very much, my friend.'

The relationship between Messi and Baggio dates back to 2010, when they met in Barcelona thanks to coach Pep Guardiola, who previously played alongside Baggio at Italian side Brescia.

The Rosario forward handed the shirt to the former Italian star inside the dressing room area after the end of the quarterfinal match, which Baggio watched from the stands of the Kansas City stadium.

Argentina secured its place in the World Cup semifinals after defeating Switzerland 3-1, thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Julián Álvarez, and Lautaro Martínez, setting up a meeting with England in the final four.
