Okaz sources revealed the background of the major decision taken by Al-Ahli club regarding canceling the current various games system and launching a 'comprehensive transformation program for various games.'

The sources indicated that discussions about the decision began about four months ago, presented by the club's CEO Fabrice Bocquet and the head of the executive committee Ahmed Al-Shanqiti. At the time, the intention was to completely abolish the various games as part of a cost-cutting program, before Okaz exclusively published the details of the decision on May 25, which caused public pressure and total rejection of canceling the various games, especially given the club's excellence in these games and its unique achievement of a historic number of titles in them. This prompted the club's company management to reopen the file and restudy it. They considered limiting to age groups in all games before the decision was taken last week, except for volleyball, and applying a freeze on basketball and water polo, while support for individual games will depend on the extent of finding successful partnerships that support the games.
