Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Rodri, midfielder for the Spanish national team and Manchester City, will undergo back surgery, after winning the 2026 World Cup with the national team.

The same newspaper added that Rodri will undergo surgery to correct a minor back problem, and clarified that it will be a simple procedure, will not require hospitalization or an overnight stay, and will not prevent the player from starting preparations for the new season with his team, as he is expected to recover within three weeks.

The surgery date was set before the start of the World Cup, in response to the player's desire to resolve these issues definitively during the rest period after the tournament, and as it appeared during the World Cup, it is not a serious problem nor an injury that affected his performance on the field.

This comes amid great controversy over Rodri, after several press reports stated that he again offered himself to Real Madrid to join them at the start of next season, and it is expected that the coming days will decide the matter, whether he stays with Manchester City or leaves.
