Saturday: Retegui enters Al Qadsiah's options
Italian striker Matteo Retegui is available for Irish coach Brendan Rodgers in Saturday's friendly against Girona, according to a source.
Italian striker Matteo Retegui, forward of Al Qadsiah's first football team, enters the options of his Irish coach Brendan Rodgers in the friendly against Girona on Saturday at the latter's home ground, according to a special source for Al Riyadiyah. The same source stated that Retegui has completed his rehabilitation program and joined group training on Wednesday in the current camp in Girona, Spain. Retegui began his fitness training, including cycling, in the external camp two days before his teammates arrived on July 3. Retegui suffered a fracture in his ankle joint during the match against Al Shabab, which ended in a 1-1 draw last April, within the 29th round of the Saudi Roshn League, which kept him out until the end of the season, and subsequently underwent surgery in Spain and a rehabilitation period of about two months. Al Qadsiah's camp in preparation for the new season continues in Girona until July 26, when it will face Spanish side Levante on the last day. The training saw the participation of Moroccan left-back Sofiane Al Karouani, recently joined from Dutch side Utrecht, in addition to Mohammed Al Qahtani, after buying his contract from Al Hilal. The Irish coach aims to bring the players to full readiness before the start of the season, which will include participation in local competitions and the AFC Champions League Elite.
