Saudi Football Federation... and These Observations! - Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Shuraydi
An observer of the new conditions and regulations for the presidency of the Saudi Football Federation finds that their criteria lack precision and quality, and they appear to have been hurriedly issued without study or deliberation! Despite being the essential foundation for attracting seriously qualified presidents and ensuring the avoidance of previous grave mistakes, as happened in the past regulations that brought a president who lacked the qualification or leadership experience in the sports sector, except for a diploma from Abu Dhabi! Therefore, it has become necessary to address those mistakes and absorb the lesson of failure and the causes of failure in previous periods, by rectifying the new regulation as follows: Football
First: The first clause should be revised so that the federation president has held a leading sports position at a level not lower than (General Manager or President); because the position of federation president requires substantial administrative leadership experience.
Second: Amend the requirement for proficiency in English; to avoid depriving distinguished national talents, the condition should become: 'The candidate must be fluent and articulate in speaking Arabic.'
Third: Focus in the criteria on personal attributes such as (thought, mentality, wisdom, strength of personality, art of management, methodology and planning, development, determination, ambition, and ability to face challenges, etc.), and move away from relying on theoretical personalities.
Fourth: Add an important and fundamental condition: that the candidate has no current or past affiliation with any of the major clubs (Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli); due to the recent escalation of sports fanaticism and unprecedented psychological charging in the history of Saudi sports, resulting from lack of awareness and some media figures and club officials feeding incitement, hatred, and discrimination against rival clubs.
Fifth: Institutional work is an integrated and multi-role system, and sports and media are two sides of the same coin; if one is absent, the other falls. From this standpoint, we say: It has become necessary to address the problem of Saudi sports media, elevate it, and confront all negative transgressions that distort the sports sector in the Kingdom.
Finally: Interaction and response to public opinion... and appreciation of opinions conveyed to the Saudi Football Federation with love and respect, will yield a measure of truth and a measure of correctness, which must be used to address the imbalance and develop the quality of Saudi sports and elevate it locally and internationally to the highest honorable levels.
And I do not consider that difficult for the Assistant Minister of Sports, Mrs. Adwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Arifi.
With utmost appreciation, and prayers for our national team to rise and succeed.
