Khaled Al-Ghannam, player of Al-Ettifaq first football team, has approached wearing the shirt of Al-Ittihad after the two parties reached an agreement stipulating the transfer of the international winger to the Jeddawi club, as revealed to Al-Riyadiyah by private sources. According to the same sources, the Al-Ghannam deal, besides the financial amount, includes the loan of the duo Hamed Al-Shanqiti, goalkeeper, and Abdul Ilah Hawsawi, midfielder, to the eastern club for one season. Al-Shanqiti and Hawsawi have expressed their approval to move to Al-Ettifaq, according to sources, which expected the deal to be finalized in the coming days if matters are officially settled by the officials of the Jeddawi club.

Al-Riyadiyah had revealed, quoting private sources on July 5, that Al-Ettifaq club management stipulated obtaining 40 million riyals, paid in one installment, to approve the sale of the contract of Khaled Al-Ghannam, the team's winger, during the summer transfer period, explaining that the Ettifaqi management waived eight million riyals from the value of the penalty clause in the player's contract, which amounts to 48 million, to facilitate the completion of the deal, adding that Al-Ittihad club has taken the lead in the race to sign Al-Ghannam, who tops the list of options for the western team to bolster its ranks amid moves to finalize the deal before next August 5, the expiry date of the penalty clause in the player's contract.

Al-Ghannam (25 years old) joined Al-Ettifaq club in January 2024 under a contract extending until June 30, 2028. The club's management planned to extend his contract with improved financial benefits and raise the penalty clause value after the remarkable levels he presented last season to secure him from future offers, but financial control restrictions prevented the completion of the renewal file. Al-Ghannam participated in 20 matches wearing the Al-Ettifaq shirt last season, contributing to 20 goals by scoring 13 and assisting seven.
