Al-Ahli has secured its first target for the right wing position of the first football team, according to special sources for Al-Riyadiya. Portuguese international Francisco Trincão will sign a four-season contract with Al-Ahli on Tuesday, after successfully passing a medical on Monday evening in Lisbon, his country's capital, ahead of joining the elite AFC Champions League winner. The Saudi club convinced its Portuguese counterpart Sporting to sell the player's contract, which was set to run until summer 2030, for $40 million. The sources indicated that the contract between the two clubs stipulates additional financial bonuses, above the agreed amount, should the player win titles with his new club. The same sources revealed that Al-Ahli had previously prepared a list of candidates for the right wing position, comprising 15 players, with Trincão at the top, in order to recruit one of them during the current transfer window. To sign the top candidate, prepared to compensate for the departure of Algerian Riyad Mahrez at the end of last season, the negotiations between Al-Ahli and Sporting took about two weeks. The Saudi club had decided to move to finalize the deal after deliberations between Portuguese sporting director Rui Pedro, German coach Matthias Jaissle, and the club's executive committee chaired by Ahmed Al-Shenqiti. On Monday evening, the "Al-Riyadiya Breaking" account on platform "X" revealed that Trincão passed the medical in his country ahead of signing a contract with Al-Ahli extending until 2030. Citing special sources, the account noted that the deal was concluded for $40 million to the Portuguese club.
