Juliano Simeone, star of the Argentine national team, apologized to his country's fans for his 'inability to bring the cup to them' after the 1-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup final, and also congratulated the title-winning team.

Simeone said in a post on his Instagram account, which included a photo of him on the pitch after coming on as a substitute for Rodrigo De Paul in the second half: 'There are no words to describe the pain I feel in these moments... I just apologize for not being able to bring the cup to you.'

He added: 'I thank the Argentine fans for all the support throughout the World Cup, in the stands and from afar.'

The Atlético Madrid player also addressed a message to his teammates, led by coach Lionel Scaloni, saying: 'Thank you to this group for giving absolutely everything in every match, and giving their souls for more than 46 million Argentines.'

The son of Diego Simeone, who coaches him at the Spanish club and attended the various matches that Juliano played with Argentina in the World Cup, explained: 'Today is a sad moment, but I am confident that over time we will proudly remember everything we experienced together in this tournament.'

Juliano Simeone concluded his message by congratulating the title-winning team, saying: 'Congratulations to Spain on the World Cup.'

The 23-year-old midfielder played three matches in the 2026 World Cup, starting against Jordan in the group stage and against England in the semi-final, before coming on as a substitute in the final against Spain.
