Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi honored the players of the Egyptian national football team and the technical and administrative staff on Saturday in the city of El Alamein.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that Sisi awarded the players and members of the technical and administrative staff the Cup of Merit and honorary medals, in appreciation of their performance and technical level during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

El-Shennawy explained that Sisi expressed his pride and appreciation for the honorable performance presented by the national team, affirming that this praise is a general impression among all Egyptians who followed the national team's matches, as well as in Arab countries, Egyptian and Arab communities abroad, and across the world.

In this context, Sisi stressed the necessity of having 'impartial scouts' for young and junior talents, affirming the state's readiness to support competencies and give them the opportunity they deserve, as well as supporting the national technical staff.

Sisi praised the high values exhibited by the team, reflecting the authenticity of the Egyptian people, emphasizing that what has been achieved is a commendable effort and great dedication in the name of Egypt.

He pointed out that sports are not only about winning and losing, but the most important thing is the respect the national team has earned from people who appreciated the team's performance more than the victory itself.

Sisi praised the team's performance, which reflected the ability of Egyptians to achieve success, stressing that the Egyptian people love sports, especially football, and include many talents that can reach the same level of efficiency as the current stars of the team.
