Italian Jannik Sinner, world number one, was crowned Wimbledon Open tennis champion for the second consecutive time, after defeating German Alexander Zverev, world number three, three sets to one on Sunday in the final.

Sinner (24 years old) succeeded in deciding the match with a score of (6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4) in 3 hours and 46 minutes, continuing his series of dominance over Zverev, achieving his tenth consecutive victory, and eleventh in head-to-head matches, against four defeats.

Zverev, the French Open champion, entered the match with great confidence and determination, and managed to win the first set and take a 5-4 lead in games in the second set, after delivering his best attacking performance in a big match.

However, the German player could not maintain his performance level in the decisive moments, allowing Sinner to turn the tables and win three consecutive sets, thus securing his second Wimbledon title and fifth Grand Slam.

This victory was his 100th in Grand Slam matches, making him the eighth active player to reach this achievement, joining Novak Djokovic (409), Stan Wawrinka (160), Marin Cilic (143), Zverev (131), Gael Monfils (130), Kei Nishikori (104), and Grigor Dimitrov (103).

This is Sinner's first Grand Slam title of 2026, after losing to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open semifinals, and his surprising exit in the second round of the French Open to Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo.

With the absence of Spanish Carlos Alcaraz for the second consecutive time from Grand Slams due to a wrist injury, Sinner once again confirmed that he is one of the greats of the game, amid his dominance of most men's singles tournaments.
