Tottenham Hotspur, competing in the English Women's Super League, announced Tuesday the signing of defender Alice Sombath from French club Olympique Lyon. Neither club disclosed the financial details of the deal, but media reports said its value exceeded the previous record for the London club to sign Norwegian Synnøve Jåpsen for 375,000 pounds ($503,700). Sombath said in a statement: 'I think the league is very competitive, every match is difficult, and that excites me more than anything else.' The French player (22 years old) played 106 matches for Lyon in all competitions, winning five consecutive French league titles and the Women's Champions League title in the 2021-2022 season.
