English club Tottenham Hotspur announced on Tuesday its signing of French defender Alice Sombath from Olympique Lyonnais to bolster the women's first team in the coming period.

Neither club disclosed the financial details of the deal, but media reports indicated that its value exceeded Tottenham's previous record signing, which was the acquisition of Norwegian Sigene Jafsit for 375,000 pounds sterling.
