Joe Cole, former England international, commented on the upcoming clash against Argentina in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Lionel Messi, captain of Argentina, is preparing for his first match against the Three Lions.

Cole said during his appearance on The Rest Is Football podcast: "We have to neutralize Messi's threat and send him to sleep."

He added: "I believe our England team is superior to Argentina; we are going to the World Cup final."

Cole continued: "Deep in my heart, I feel that we will defeat Argentina."

England reached the semi-finals after a 2-1 victory over Norway in the quarter-finals following extra time.

Argentina (the defending champion) qualified for the semi-finals after a 3-1 win over Switzerland, also after extra time.
