The match between Argentina and Spain witnessed a scuffle immediately after the final whistle of the 2026 World Cup final in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

After Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić blew the final whistle of the second extra time with Spain winning 1-0 and clinching the title for the second time in their history, Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes got into a scuffle with several Spanish players, including Eric García and Gavi.

Lionel Scaloni, the head coach of the Argentine national team, intervened to prevent his player from continuing the confrontation with the Spanish players, who celebrated winning the second title in their country's history.

The match had witnessed several confrontations between players throughout the four periods, and Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández was sent off a few minutes before the end of the second half in regular time.
